New blogger hating

I have just had one of those "light bulb" moments. After fighting and fighting with the html template on blogger, Ii have discovered the why.
Those pesky new widgets they now offer are the why! I've been trying to put linked buttons to my favorite blogs, etc. It appears that you have to find a way to add them via the widget menu. *sigh* if one, like myself, trys to save them directly on the template....you get an error message.
