Lack of Garb & Current Reading
May 12, 2006
I have been neglecting my research into my persona, and creating my garb. Think I'm just plain intimadated on the idea of cutting my cloth and to start sewing. So far I have various cotton fabric for my chemise. I have spent so much money on cotton fabric it's crazy. I currently have a light weight cotton, a cotton flannel, and the newest is a fine cotton from a better fabric store in the area. I think it's meant to be used in hankies with lace, etc.
So I just have to make that first cut and get it over with. I can make 3 chemises with the amount of fabric I have. Then I can start working on next layer.
At this rate I will have Garb in time for next summer.
Also I'm back in my Tudor stage again. Not my fault that Henry VIII created such a mess that would effect the life of English people for centuries.
Currently reading a book on Mary, Queen of Scots & Lord Darnby. So far, she's been shipped off to France to be raised in the Royal court. I believe she really did care for her 1st. husband Francis. He had been sickly all his life. From the discription given in the book, he was blessed to have been matched with Mary. She saw no faults in his looks or in any other aspect of him. Saddly, not long after they came to the throne of France.......he died. Damn those falls from horses. A fall from a horse killed many a person in history.
Mary gets packed up again and this time sent back to Scotland. She was a stranger to her own Kingdom. Barely spoke English, and stuck in the middle of the Protestant Revolution. The nobility fought any talk of her marrying a Catholic prince. The people were Catholic, the nobility Protestant. What a mess. How is a queen to find love when the pickings are slim when politics are involved.
So she is currently at a stage of being considered depressed and having mood swings. She is still young and hasn't taken full rein of her kingdom.
