I get to go shopping at the campus bookstore! *in a sing song voice*

May 12, 2006

Well today's the day I get to go shopping in the College Bookstore!
See, it appears that the state of Virginia has a very accessiable college system. It's very extensive. Up in NY they have a great college system too, but the availability versus demand make it almost impossiable to get in, and be close to home. Most of the S.U.N.Y. system is located at least 3 hours outside of the NYC area. And if your super lucky (meant in jest) you'll get admitance to a school in Buffalo, or somewhere else close to the Canadian border. You will never see the ground, cause by early october they start to get SNOW, lots of it.

Well, back to where I live nowadays. Virginia Beach. Locally we have the Tidewater Community College, including the Art center they have 5 campuses. And compared to what I'm used to price wise for tuition, are a complete steal. The tuition just went up a few dollars to $72.50 per credit hour. Yes! you read that correct!

I for the first time in my life have qualified for financial aid. Well, with the tuition paid for in full by the aid, I still have money to buy all my school supplies on campus with the balance. So when I get dressed and move the butt into gear, I will go brave the crowd as today is the first day you can buy books with Financial aid.

Have to make sure I remember to grab lots of wite-out tape. Yes! I admit it! I have a wite-out tape habit. It's completely crazy. Have been seen using it, writing and then laying another layer over the first. LOL! I could have a much worse habit! But I will allow people to poke fun at my liberal use of wite-out. It's ok. really. I know it's a problem.......but it's an improvement from the last habit. I have dysgraphia, which affects my actual writing on paper. It also in a classroom setting, causes me to be slower in taking notes especially from a black board. While in school as a child, we found different things that worked and developed a system. I would have a notebook to write everything from school that day, when I got home I had to rewrite the notes neatly within each class's notebook so that I would have a book to study from, that was readable. This doesn't work as adult in college nor in the workplace too well. Between the amount of required reading (which I was trying to take notes of :() and the papers due, just didn't have enough hours in the day. Gawd forbid I would want to maybe sleep. lol.

So wish me well, I'm off to elbow my way through narrow aisle to get very expensive textbooks. Maybe I should treat myself to Starbuck's first.
